Connect OpenRouter
You need Inference key and Provisioning key. About two minutes.
1Get these from OpenRouter
Either value works on its own. Add both to see both numbers.
Inference keyoptional
sk-or-v1-…- Open Settings, API Keys on OpenRouter.
- Click Create Key, name it and optionally set a credit limit.
- Copy the sk-or-v1-… key: it is shown only once.
Reads this key's own spend limit, the one that blocks a job mid-run.
Open the pagehttps://openrouter.ai/settings/keys
Provisioning keyoptional
sk-or-v1-…- Open Settings, Management Keys (formerly Provisioning Keys) on OpenRouter.
- Click Create New Key, enter a name and choose an expiration date.
- Copy the key now: it is shown only once and cannot run completions.
Reads the account's purchased credit balance. This is the number most people want, and it works on its own.
Open the pagehttps://openrouter.ai/settings/management-keys
2Add it to CreditBar
- Open CreditBar from the menu bar and choose Settings, then Accounts.
- Click Add account and pick OpenRouter.
- Paste the Inference key and the Provisioning key into the matching fields, and give the account a label you will recognise.
- Click Test connection, then Add. Numbers appear in the menu bar within a minute.
Keys are stored in your Mac's Keychain and only ever sent to OpenRouter. Nothing passes through a CreditBar server.
3What it reads
- Reports
- total purchased and total used
- Calls
- https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/credits
- Refreshes
- At most every 5 minutes
- API docs
- OpenRouter reference, checked 2026-09-15
Either key alone works. The provisioning key gives the account balance, the inference key gives that key's own spend limit, and together you get both.
