You need API key and Application ID. About two minutes.

- Click New API Key.
- Under ACL, tick analytics and usage, then create the key.
- Copy the new key from the list.
Dashboard, Settings, API Keys. The key needs the analytics ACL. A search-only key is refused by the usage API.

Application ID

- Copy the Application ID shown alongside the keys.
On the same page. Not a secret, but it names the application.

2Add it to CreditBar
- Open CreditBar from the menu bar and choose Settings, then Accounts.
- Click Add account and pick Algolia.
- Paste the API key and the Application ID into the matching fields, and give the account a label you will recognise.
- Click Test connection, then Add. Numbers appear in the menu bar within a minute.
Keys are stored in your Mac's Keychain and only ever sent to Algolia. Nothing passes through a CreditBar server.
3What it reads
- Reports
- search requests per day over the window, and the current record count
- Calls
- https://usage.algolia.com/1/usage/{statistics}
- Refreshes
- At most every 15 minutes
- API docs
- Algolia reference, checked 2026-09-18
Billed search requests, which is total_search_requests less the Query Suggestions share. Algolia publishes no plan allowance here, so this is a count.
